Fifty two years ago, Christian Dior brought one of his most recent fashion collections to Moscow. The leading designer Yves Saint Laurent decided to conduct an experiment. He dressed his models in the latest Paris fashions and sent them into the Moscow streets, arcades, and subway stations. The Russian people had never seen anything like it before. This was quite a culture shock, especially for the Russian “Babushkas,” who looked at the French fashion divas as if they were Napoleon’s invading army. Dior took some interesting photos that were later published in Life magazine.
